About this ebook

Who will be next?

Though former FBI Special Agent Sloane Burbank once survived a life-threatening injury in the line of duty, she now uses her specialized skills as an independent consultant. But when one of her closest childhood friends mysteriously disappears, Sloane takes the case—even though her ex-lover Derek Parker is the FBI agent in charge.

Special Agent Derek Parker has no time to spare for a dead-end case—especially since it would mean working with a woman he never expected to see again. But as more women disappear and others turn up brutally murdered, he and Sloane come to the sickening realization that these random crimes are linked to the same crazed killer, a fiend with a mind so psychotic, so twisted, that it will take everything Sloane has to capture him—even as she becomes his latest target.

Wow! This was a fast paced thriller with non stop action that keeps you guessing until the very end! I loved the characters and the relationship b/w Sloane and Derek. Kane did an excellent job portraying the hurt and passion that exists b/w them. The villian in this novel is truely twisted 'very deserving for the title for the book'. Make sure you have nothing pressing to do before you start this book because you will not be coming up for air for a while!! The only reason this got 4 stars instead of 5 is b/c i would have liked there to have been more to the ending. I wish Kane would have written more about after the incident at the end. But it is still a stellar novel!

First of all, I need to say that I liked the story. I liked Sloane, I liked Derek, I liked their backstory, I liked the concept of the kidnappings. The suspense level was good, the red herring convincing to a point. However, I had some issues with the writing. I didn’t like the soliloquies by the bad guy and the victims. The sex scenes were *awful*… almost clinical (could we find a substitute for "spurted", please?). The entire dialogue between Sloane and the bad guy in the end parts of the book seemed really formal and fake and not like how normal people would speak, at all. Crazy or not. The climax was a little anti-climatic (could it have been any easier for Sloane?). And Greek mythology is such a large part of the book that the title "Twisted" comes off as really generic and uninspired. But despite all that, the core story is enough for me to want to pick up another Andrea Kane book. So she must have done something right!

“Twisted” is an amazing read. I am a huge Andrea Kane fan. I devoured this story; I was not able to put the book down until the end. In Twisted, Andrea Kane keeps you guessing until the end to see how the story will turn out. She creates vivid characters that you can root for easily. Sloane Burbank is an independent woman who stands on her own, but with enough vulnerability to make her seem real. Derek, her former lover, is a man with many faults but still you find yourself identifying him as a man you would want in your corner as well. He is the agent in charge of a case, which involves a ruthless killer and college women that Sloane is set on reopening. As the story progresses and the danger around Sloane escalate, Derek will be needed to help her survive. I strongly recommend this book. I enjoyed it immensely.

A serial kidnapper/ killer is on the loose and Sloane Burbank, former FBI special agent, seems to be connected to each victim in one way or another. She meets up with an ex-love, Derek Parker, and things begin to heat up again, adding some steamy romance to the suspense. This book is full of suspense that it keeps you guessing the entire time and definitely keeps you on edge the entire time. A true page turner until the very last page!

This is an amazing book! With the FBI, serial kidnapping and killing, romance and pain, Andrea Kane covers everything! You will not put this book down (and you shouldn't! Who needs sleep when you have Twisted?)

When ex-FBI agent Sloane Burke is called in to investigate the disappearance of a childhood friend, she ends up working with an ex-lover and Agent In Charge Derek Parker. His close proximity rekindles feelings she thought she’d left behind, as well as the past that still haunts her. More than a romantic thriller, this novel combines a pathological killer targeting prostitutes and a psychopath seemingly kidnapping random women from collage campuses. The twists and turns keep you in suspense and you really do not know “who dun it” until the end.

Andrea Kane captured my interest in the first few pages with a seriously compelling villain. The multi-layered plot sees a stubborn FBI hero and an ex-FBI heroine with a romantic history caught in a race against time to catch a killer who undermines them at every turn. The plot is so intricate that you don't know who the villain is until the very last. and is fast paced enough to keep you reading late into the night. The book is tightly written and well researched lending authenticity to the story.

Andrea Kane has done it again! I could not put this book down. The characters were very believable, and the plot was intriguing and suspenseful. I never who the killer was until the very end. I can't wait to read the next Andrea Kane's novel.

Sloane is a former FBI agent who is called to work on a stalled investigation involving the disappearance of a childhood friend. The problem is her ex-lover, Derek, is the agent in charge and he's surprised to see her. But when more missing women are connected to the case and Sloane seems to be the link, the stakes are suddenly much higher.Twisted took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I found myself reaching for the box of tissues more often than not and couldn't put the book down once I got started. I was pleased when I was unable to figure out who the madman was, but all the clues were there so it didn't come completely out of the blue. And Twisted is the perfect name, for the madman truly was twisted. My only "complaint" is that the book is marketed as a romantic thriller, yet the romance is almost non-existent. Sure there are a couple sex scenes and the characters declare love for each other, but it wasn't developed as much as the thriller half. That said, it really isn't needed. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading future installments in this new series.

This is the best suspense book I've read this year. Sloane Burbank is the sort of woman we'd all like to be. She is confident in who she is and a bit driven but she is strong, intelligent and beautiful. She is vulnerable too and that strikes a chord in all women. The characters are finely drawn and the whole plot makes a reader feel that it is all real. Working in law enforcement myself I recognize much of the protocol. The bad guy is possibly the creepiest since Hannibal Lecter.I just couldn't put the book down and that means a lot with me. I can't wait to finish it but on the other hand I really want to savor the storyline and enjoy the chase. This is simply a great read and I hope readers who love suspense, romance, and diving into a book completely will get out there and buy it when it comes out.

Twisted, by Andrea Kane, is a real page turner. Sloane Burbank, a former FBI agent turned private consultant, was hired to find out what happened to her childhood friend who disappeared a year ago. As she starts to dig into the case, more women begin to disappear. Is there a connection? As the mystery of the disappearing women gets more and more involved, we're exposed to more of Sloane's past, especially as it involves FBI Agent Derek Parker. Can Sloane work with Derek to find the missing women? Can Sloane deal with the injury that caused her to leave the FBI? Can Sloane survive, being the ultimate target of the kidnappers grand plan?Once you pick up this book, you won't be able to put it down until you get to the end.

This is definitely a page turner!! The book centers on Sloane, A former FBI agent, who left the Bureau to recover from an attack and now consults with law enforcement and corporations about hostage negotiations. She gets involved in a friends 11 month old disappearance and has to deal with the man she walked away from when she walked away from the FBI. I read this book in one sitting. It kept me guessing at who the bad guy was until the very end!! You can really tell the author researched her topic and knew what she was talking about when it came to procedures and standards of operation with the FBI.I loved the characters and how the romance is there, but second to trying to find a killer. A great book for anyone who loves a good thriller or police procedural!! I will definitely be reading all her other books! :-)

Another page turner from Andrea Kane, who is one of the best authors of Romantic Suspense. As soon as you start reading you are drawn into the world of Sloane Burbank and her determination to help find what happened to her childhood friend who went missing almost a year ago. The characters are wonderfully written and I was kept guessing for a long time as to who the unsub was. Her writing keeps me entertained from page 1 til the last page which I hate as I know it will be a while before another book from her comes along.

This book took along time for me to read. Not that it was a slow read by any means but it goes into such detail. Which should not suprise you after the first few pages of the book where you find page after page of how Andrea Kane researched the book and she did her best to make it realistic and accurate. Maybe a bit to realistic at least with all the technical stuff. It's a good book, likeable characters, "twisted" bad guy to say the least and it all works well enough.

Sloane Burbank is a former FBI agent who was injured in the line of duty and instead of taking a desk job decided to leave the Bureau until her therapy made her fit for active duty once more. In the meantime she is working as a private consultant for corporations and the police. She is contacted by the family of a childhood friend as a last resort that their daughter has been missing for close to a year and hired to look into the case for them. This one missing person case takes her into a series of related missing women cases, all having even the remotest link to herself, leading officials to believe Sloane is the ultimate target. At the same time the FBI agent in charge is involved in a case of a series of brutal prostitute murders down in Chinatown which may somehow be related to the missing women.Comment: Wow! This was a stunner! I wish I hadn't waited so long to read this as I would have read the sequel by now too. Two things initially put me off, the cover and the description on the back as a "romantic thriller". I'm not a romance reader and the word had me thinking this might be a bit of fluff, but boy was I wrong! A very creepy, unusual serial killer is the focus of this book which shifts focus occasionally to the criminal's first hand point of view and then back to the third person narrative of the main plot. This person is very freaky and the whole story of motive that the author has created is very unique and fantastic. I quickly had my eye on a suspect and played into the author's hands all along as I followed her red herrings and was joyfully surprised how wrong I was at the reveal. Usually, in these thrillers with male/female partners we have s*xual tension or a relationship going on, but the 'romance' writer in the author comes out in this area of the book and there is quite a bit of descriptive s*x in the book that I would rather have done without. Some people would consider it quite graphic, though in the whole realm of what I've read I'd say it gets very close without quite getting to full fledged graphic. For this reason I can't give the book a full rating. I've read a lot of thrillers and this type of 'romance=sex' doesn't sit right with me. Save it for the paranormal romances, I say.Otherwise, Ms Kane has crafted a taut, unique and very satisfying page turner of a thriller. I will be reading the sequel soon.

I was slightly annoyed when I first opened this book. There are several pages of acknowledgements, then several definitions of acronyms used throughout. It took me almost 15 minutes before I started the book! However, now that I've finished the book, I'm not bothered by that any more. It's obvious how much research and work went into the background before Kane even started with the story itself. This book started out a little bouncy. It went from place to place, and between victims and Sloane. But once I got the rhythm down, I was good to go. There were places where I felt like I was reading the minds of the victims which seemed weird, but it worked out okay. I really liked that I was trying to figure out who the "Unsub" was for the majority of the book. When I can figure that out too soon, the book ends up being a let down. There didn't seem to be much visual description in this book, but the accuracy regarding the jurisdictions between the FBI and local agencies was unbelievable. I'm almost jealous about all the people Kane was able to shadow, meet and interview. Sloane and Derek are the perfect main characters for this book. Both stubborn and determined, and great detectives. I love it when the hero of the book is female, but Derek is a hero here too. The banter between them throughout the book is witty and fun, but still on track with solving the crime that they are working on. Overall, I loved this book. I have the follow-up book to this one. It's called Drawn in Blood and it features both Sloane and Derek again. I can't wait to get started on it! I can easily say that Ms. Kane has a new fan! I'll be digging up more books by her!

What a beautiful but edgy thriller. My favourite read so far this year and definitely the best thriller.Andrea Kane is amazing with her pace, every page keeps you captivated, and every chapter matters, as you read it makes you feel like you are a part of the dangerous and shocking investigation. This was my first by her and I look forward to reading more by A. Kane. Everything I love about a book was included – great story line, passion from the characters, on the edge of your seat with suspense from the dangerous feeling of what will happen next and I didn’t figure out the killer, I totally had the wrong person. The Serial Killer speaks throughout the book and just leaves a chilling feeling on you, sick twisted mind, at the end you completely understand how Kane chose “Twisted” as the title. The main character Sloan, an ex FBI agent is employed as a consultant now and is hired to find a childhood friend. Sloan is surprised by who she has to work with...... Derek, an ex lover , who is a FBI agent that becomes in charge of the investigation. This meeting was the start of the intense dynamics between them, a great romance, not too much to take away from the thriller, their relationship was captivating while they worked in and out of the bedroom. When all starts to connect you are so excited to be a part of it (really it makes you feel like you are there. GREAT GREAT READ!!!!! Highly recommend.I can totally see this as a movie, it gave me the same feeling ‘Silence of the Lambs’ gave me when I watched it.

This is an interesting romantic thriller. Sloane is a former FBI agent that left after a very bad knife wound to her hand. She also left behind a very intense romance with another agent. This story starts over a year after the attack and she is still in therapy for her hand injury. She gets a call from the mother of a childhood friend. The mom is desperate to find her daughter that disappeared a year ago. Sloane agrees to do it even though she knows that the chance of finding her friend is nil. Turns out the agent on the case is her old lover. Sparks fly every time they speak and of course they rekindle their relationship. They mystery half of the book wasn't overlooked in the romance and helps strengthen the relationship between the two. I'll be looking for the next one in the series.

Twisted is another solid entry into the LOST series. This is the story of Dean Bannon, former FBI agent, now working for LOST. He goes to New Orleans looking for Julia Finney, a sixteen year old who has been missing for months. When Dean meets the beautiful "reader," Emma Castille who read for Julia the day before. Emma isn't psychic, but she learn to notice things that others miss by her father who was not only a con artist, but also died attempting to save sisters who had been abducted and died in the process. Emma learned her lessons well enough to be an asset to Dean and the rest of the LOST team. Emma becomes a target of the killer, but could it be that this case is also connected to Dean's past as well.
A good story that makes for easy, quick reading, but doesn't add anything new to the genre.
